Product Description

Ferrocene (molecular formula: (C₅H₅)₂Fe, CAS: 102-54-5), scientifically named bis(cyclopentadienyl)iron, is a typical sandwich-type organometallic compound.

Product properties & Features

High stability: No reaction with air/water at room temperature; slow oxidation under strong oxidants; extremely high thermal stability: no decomposition at 400°C; acid-resistant, alkali-resistant, UV-resistant and anti-oxidant.
Easy derivatization: Hydroxyl, carboxyl, aldehyde groups, etc. can be introduced onto the rings to form hundreds of derivatives.
Redox property: Fe²⁺ can be reversibly oxidized to Fe³⁺ (ferrocenium ion) with strong electrochemical activity.

Applications

1. Fuel additives: Anti-knock agent for gasoline (replacing part of tetraethyl lead); smoke suppressant and combustion aid for diesel/heavy oil; burning rate catalyst for solid rocket fuels.

2. Materials industry: Curing agent for rubber/silicone resin; UV absorber for plastics; high-temperature resistant coatings (e.g., aerospace outer coatings).

3. Catalysis and pharmaceuticals: Catalyst in organic synthesis; ferrocene derivatives are used in the research and development of anti-tumor and antibacterial drugs.

4. Others: Electrochemical sensors, magnetic materials, and liquid crystal material intermediates.

Storage：Sealed preservation. Store at cool and ventilate. Avoid sunlight and heat. The shelf life is 12 months after manufacturer date. It is still available if retest result is qualified after expire date

Transportation: Keep upright when transported. Avoid violent collision and exposure. Do not transport with strong oxidizers.
