Monohydroxy liquid polybutadiene
LPBOH
Chemical Name: Monohydroxy liquid polybutadiene
Aliases: hydroxylated liquid polybutadiene.
Code: LPBOH
CAS No. 63231-65-2
Product Description
Monohydroxy Liquid Polybutadiene (LPBOH) is a monofunctional hydroxyl-terminated low-molecular-weight polybutadiene, classified as a monofunctional reactive liquid rubber. It is a water-white to pale yellow transparent viscous liquid at room temperature.
Structure: One end of the molecular chain bears a hydroxyl group (–OH) and the other end is an inert terminal group; the main chain contains a large number of active double bonds (1,2-vinyl / 1,4-cis/trans).
Glass Transition Temperature (Tg): -70°C~-50°C (excellent low-temperature flexibility)
Solubility: Soluble in aromatic and cycloaliphatic hydrocarbons; excellent compatibility with LPB, LSBR, HTPB, epoxy resins, and acrylic resins.
Product properties & Features
1. Monofunctional Dual Curing: Dual reactive sites (hydroxyl + double bond) enable stepwise curing with isocyanates (via hydroxyl) and peroxides/sulfur (via double bond), allowing precise control of crosslink density.
2. Low Viscosity & Easy Processability: Lower viscosity than HTPB, offering good fluidity and wetting ability, suitable for casting, potting, and thin-film coating.
3. High Hydrophobicity & Electrical Insulation: Non-polar main chain provides excellent hydrolysis resistance, acid/alkali resistance, and electrical insulation with low dielectric loss.
4. Non-Migrating Toughening: Double bonds participate in crosslinking, delivering permanent toughening without bleeding, improving substrate impact resistance and fatigue resistance.
Applications
Electronic Potting & Insulation Coatings: Potting for high-voltage components, PCBs, and sensors, providing moisture resistance, temperature resistance, and insulation.
Polyurethane Modification: Used as a chain terminator / soft segment in polyurethanes to adjust hardness and low-temperature flexibility.
Adhesives & Sealants: Automotive and construction sealants, enhancing adhesion, weather resistance, and vibration resistance.
Rubber Plasticization & Reinforcement: Reactive plasticizer for solid rubbers (SBR/BR/EPDM), reducing viscosity and improving abrasion resistance and wet skid resistance.
Specialty Coatings: Anti-corrosion, waterproof, and damping coatings, offering toughening, crack resistance, and aging resistance
Packing & Storage
50kg/plastic drum or 180kg/metal drum packaging.
Storage should be cool, dry and ventilated. The shelf life is 12 months, after the expiration of the re-inspection can still be used.
Avoid rain and sun during transportation. Do not mix with strong oxidants.
